Hi,
from time to time i like to see if how the performance is doing if i change something.
So only changing a color might have a big influence.
If i do some changes it is difficult to compare.
Because the changes in the performance might also have other reasons.
Good weather, bad weather, sport events in TV or what ever.
So to compare 2 different Ads it is the best to use it at the same time.
For that I use this Mod:
((login for URL))
Make sure you use the different Ads in the same position and with different channels.
You might put in the Text area of the Mod more than only the AdSense Code. That allows you also playing around with Background Colors or aliment.
Greetings
Christian

Yes, split tests (50:50) are a good way to test out changes.
I am personally running split tests with ((login for URL)).
It is the free version of Google's DoubleClick AdServer for small to medium size publishers.
I used to run all Ads via my Ad Server but I noticed that it had a small effect
on my forum speed and I am trying to optimize my forum speed as much as I can.
However for a split test it is great.
I am running split test for at least a week up to 4 weeks
to see which ad version performs better.
Sometimes it is a 0.1% difference in CTR but
that 0.1% translates into more money!
